DBuilt Environment has been an integral component of human development and has provided the necessary support for continued growth and evolution of the society. In the process of providing the intended use, most designed facilities influence the environment and are mostly susceptible to externalities (such as weather, human influences, others).
BUILTS (BUilding Innovations Lab Towards Sustainability) provides a platform for researchers across the globe and cross-discipline to collaborate with the aim of mitigating the impacts of built environment on natural environment, and enhancing the resilience of the built environment to external threats. In addition, the BUILTS team also researches Innovations Towards Sustainability (ITS) and feasibility of ITS so that the adopting facilities are sustainable and resilient to natural and man-made disasters. Researchers within the lab also identify ways in which Virtual Technology (such as BIM, augmented reality, and others) can be used to create facilities that are green, sustainable, and resilient.
